"OBREGON SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN A506. Cal. 11.43 mm (45 ACP). Extremely rare pistol in the United States with only about 1,000 ever made, built somewhat on the order of the Colt 1911A1, by Fabrica de Armas Mexico, Mexico City, Mexico for commercial sale. This pistol resembles the 1911A1 in most respects except for the stepped side slide which is thick & round over about the front half. It has fixed sights with a narrow checkered raised rib on top of slide with slanted serrations grasping groove on rear end. Slide lock/safety is simply a long bar that replaces the two pieces of 1911-style pistol. It has a short rounded spur hammer & a long spur tang safety with raised, serrated mainspring housing & a serrated front strap. Magazine release is in usual 1911 position with concentric rings but is J-shaped on right side. Left side of slide is marked "Systema OBREGON / Calibre 11.43". Right side of frame is marked above grip "FABRICA NACIONAL DE ARMAS MEXICO PAT. No 35053", and the serial number. Fitted with full coverage coarse checkered walnut grips & accompanied by an orig magazine. Few of these pistols have found their way into the United States and of those most have seen hard service & retain little orig finish. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Overall retains 96-97% strong orig blue with only slight muzzle & sharp edge wear. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. Grips are sound with light diamond point wear. 4-35606 JR267 (3,000-5,000)"
