"COLT SERIES 70 GOVERNMENT MODEL SEMI-AUTO PISTOL. SN 70L11543. Cal. 9 mm. Standard Series-70 Government Model with blue finish, 5" bbl, fixed sights & full checkered gold medallion walnut grips. Slide & frame have standard Series 70 markings in correct positions. Left side of slide below the rampant Colt & left side of frame above magazine release is stamped with German nitro-proofs with various numbers. Slide is numbered "678", which number also appears with German proofs on bbl. Consignor, who has extensive contacts in Germany where he obtained this pistol, states that this pistol & another in caliber 45 ACP were shipped to Germany as test pieces. Accompanied by an orig 1-pc wood grain box with Styrofoam insert, an owner's pamphlet & hang tag. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine, near new.
