Fine Cased Texas or Holster Model Paterson Revolver, with Low Serial Number, 33
Serial no. 33, .36 caliber, 5 shot cylinder with stagecoach holdup roll scene. 7
1/2-inch barrel with top roll-marked: [star and snake] Patent Arms M'g. Co. Paterson,
N.J.-Colt's Pt. [star and snake]. Squareback cylinder. Blued finish with case-hardened
frame, recoil shield, hammer and backstrap. Varnished one-piece walnut grips.
Varnished mahogany case with scalloped German silver escutcheon inlaid on bevelled lid;
the case lined in brown velvet, escalloped for grip and cylinder and recoil shield of
revolver, as well as for extra cylinder (marked with matching serial no. 33), and for
combination powder and ball flask (marked with number 35 on both halves). Brass key plate,
lock and hinges. Brass capper with marking 92 inside lid and on inside top of body; single
cavity bullet mold; combination tool and brass cleaning rod with turned walnut handle.
Key.
Condition: Fine; 85% blue on barrel, with lightly pitted bore. 40%
faded blue on cylinder; gray and brown patina to frame, recoil shield, hammer and
backstrap. Grips with 60% varnish. Surface pitting. Cylinder roll scene sharp on both
cylinders, including marking of COLT. Traces blue on extra cylinder, which exhibits light
wear. Case with storage marks and 95% varnish; wear to cloth inside case. Traces blue on
combination tool; traces gold finish on combination powder and ball flask. Mellow patina
to capper. Light pitting on steel of accessories. Key fine.
