Rare Factory Engraved Colt Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver with Factory Carved
"Dragoon" Pattern Ivory Grips
Serial no.116979 [with dot below], .31 caliber, 4-inch octagonal barrel with top flat
engraved "Saml Colt". Factory scroll-engraved throughout, including loading
lever. Engraved screws. Silver-plated brass triggerguard and gripstrap assembly. Rare
factory ivory grips with left grip bearing the high relief-engraved bust image of a U.S.
Dragoon. This pattern is considered rare and seldom encountered.
Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 30-35% finish,
primarily on triggerguard and gripstrap assembly, the remaining areas with grey-brown age
patina. Wedge and wedge screw are period replacements. Cylinder retaining approximately
60-65% scene with wear and patina present. Grips showng light wear with minor age cracks
and patina. Action needing repair as cylinder does not advance when hammer is cocked.
