Civilian Colt First Model Dragoon Revolver with U.S. Stamping on Frame
Serial no. 1728, .44 caliber percussion cylinder; 7 1/2-inch part round, part octagonal
barrel marked - ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY - reading from breech in direction of
muzzle; COLTS/PATENT/U.S. in tiny letters stamped on left side of frame; Texas Rangers and
Comanche Indian fight cylinder roll scene with MODEL USMR marking in upper cartouche above
serial number; V-mainspring; blued with case-hardened hammer, loading lever and frame;
plain brass gripstraps and squareback triggerguard; varnished walnut grips. Single safety
pin on cylinder breech. DDH in script crudely marked on buttstrap.
Condition: Very good. Gray patina, pitting; cylinder with 65% roll
scene; single safety pin worn but visible; gripstraps with mellow patina; grips with wear,
nicks and mars and traces varnish, old careful cleaning. Pitted bore. Number 129 on bottom
of loading lever; 728 on bottom of wedge.
