Fine and Rare Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver with 6-Inch Factory Barrel
Serial no. 11489, .36 caliber percussion, 6-inch octagonal barrel marked - ADDRESS SAML
COLT NEW-YORK CITY - , COLTS/PATENT in tiny letters stamped on left side of frame, naval
engagement cylinder roll scene; dull blue and case-hardened finish of that period, with
silver-plated brass gripstraps and small oval triggerguard; varnished walnut grips. Sold
with a correspondence file on the revolver, including authentication letters from several
Colt experts, attesting to the originality of the gun and a copy of the March, 1967 issue
feature article on the exact firearm.
Condition: Fine. 75% blue, light wear with marks and light pitting,
primarily on barrel; cylinder with deep and sharp roll scene, minor tracking lines; 75%
case-hardening, hammer with pitting and brown patina, traces case-hardening; 99% silver;
grips fine and retaining 99% varnish, with dents and marks.

page 120A. The caption states: "A billing dated Stockton, California, October 9,
1857, notes 'on Hand one 6 in Navy', another specimen known is Serial #186027, having a 5
3/16" length. Any Navy with barrel measuring other than the standard 7 1/2" is
rare."
