Colt Model 1851 London Navy Revolver
Serial no. 40811, .36 caliber percussion, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel marked - ADDRESS
COL COLT LONDON. - , COLT'S/PATENT stamped on left side of frame, naval engagement
cylinder roll scene; blue with case-hardened loading lever, hammer and frame; blued steel
gripstraps and large triggerguard; varnished walnut grips. British proof stampings on left
side of barrel lug and on cylinder at breech. 0811 on bottom of wedge and 40811 on top of
loading lever lug.
Condition: Fine. Traces blue, balance turned brown; steel sharp; 75%
case-hardening, with balance brown and gray patina; 25% case-hardening on hammer; spots of
pitting; cylinder with sharp roll scene, light tracking marks at cylinder stop slots,
safety pins fine; grips with 99% varnish, nicks and light wear.
