Fine Early U.S. Martially Marked Colt Single Action Army Revolver, with O.W. Ainsworth
Inspector Cartouche and Scarce Co. K 4th Cavalry Frame Marking
Serial no. 3816, .45 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with italic Hartford single line
address marking; two-line two-patent date marking on left side of frame with U.S. stamped
to right; blued finish with case-hardened frame and hammer; one piece oil-finished walnut
grips. OWA in cartouche on left grip panel; inspector markings on various parts, including
tiny letters A and P. Right side of frame stamped (upside down): COK 4 CAV, indicating
Company K of the 4th Cavalry.
Condition: Fine as refinished. 80% re-blue and 75% recase-hardening
remain, balance brown and gray patina; color hardening fading; light wear and minor
pitting; tracking marks on cylinder; grips carefully cleaned, and with light nicks; minor
chips at front corner of butt of each grip panel.
