Fine Colt Single Action Army Frontier Six-Shooter with Etched Barrel
Serial no. 105128. .44-40 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with maker and Hartford barrel
address on top; etched panel on left side COLT FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER; three-line three
patent date marking on left side of frame; blued, with case-hardened hammer and frame;
varnished one piece walnut grips. Reproduction pasteboard box with illustrated lid image,
including revolver and rampant colt trademark, and reference to .44 caliber and its
compatibility with Colt's Magazine rifle. Sold with original Colt factory letter stating
gun was shipped to Simmons Hardware Company, St. Louis Mo. September 26, 1885 in a
shipment of 10.
Condition: Fine. 70% blue and 60% case-hardening; fading, wear,
patina, primarily on barrel and cylinder; sharp etched panel; 25% blue on gripstraps;
tracking lines on cylinder; grips very good to fine. Box very good, with sharp lid label
imagery, interior possible restoration as likely is the cloth cover.
