Colt Single Action Army Revolver in Scarce Early Pasteboard Box
Serial no. 142574. .32-20 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with maker and Hartford barrel
address on top; two-line three patent date marking on left side of frame with rampant colt
logo in circle to right; blued, with case-hardened hammer and frame; hard rubber rampant
colt and American eagle grips. Pasteboard box with illustrated lid image, including
revolver and rampant colt trademark, as well as sticker noting: "THE WITHIN REVOLVER
IS NOT ADAPTED FOR SMOKELESS POWDER." Ideal reloading implements label inside lid;
label at one end of bottom identifying .32-20 caliber and 7 1/2-inch barrel length.
Condition: Very good to fine. 25% blue and 50% case-hardening; wear,
pitting and patina, primarily on barrel and cylinder; 25% blue on gripstraps; tracking
lines on cylinder; grips very good to fine. Box very good, with faded lid label imagery,
separation at one corner of lid; stained interior and exterior; light repairs to box.
Note: Manufactured in 1891.
