Fine Cased Engraved Liegois Two-Barrel 20-shot 7mm Pinfire Revolver, c. 1870
5-inch blued over and under barrels with scroll engraving at breech and barrel lug,
Liege-proofed cylinder with scroll engraving, frame with scroll engraving and marked with
a small Crown G, folding trigger and checkered grips, three-piece pewter oil vessel, brass
and steel cleaning rod, rosewood-mounted turn-screw with screw-in pick in handle,
bone-handled three-sided bristle brush, small glass bottle of Fiend oil and small number
of original cartridges, the whole contained within an oak casing lined with green baise
and set with a round brass escutcheon plate in lid, case lacking key-plate, old paper
label applied to front of case reads: 7m/m 20 Chamber Pin Fire Revolver. This is a
20-shot, with ten chambers for 7mm cartridges in each row. By means of the two fixed beaks
on the hammers shots are fired alternately from the two rows. The gun has on the right a
loading gate and also an ejector which is swivelled to take care of expulsion of fired
cases from both rows of chambers.
Condition: Excellent, retaining 95% original blue on barrels, though
frame retains 50% of original blue having flaked especially from gripstraps, crack on grip
panel, dent on other panel, very good case (lacking key-plate, underside of case with
crack) and very good accessories.
