"DWM 1923 STOEGER AMERICAN EAGLE LUGER AUGUST WEISS PARTS GUN. SN 418. Cal. 9 mm. Late Stoeger Luger with 4" bbl, American eagle over chamber & DWM scroll on toggle link. Right side of receiver is marked "A.F. STOEGER INC NEW YORK" with "GERMANY" in smaller letters toward rear. Right side frame rail is marked "LUGER - REGISTERED U.S. PATENT OFFICE". It also has "GERMANY" export stamp on front edge of frame, as well as on wooden magazine base. Left side of receiver has crown "N" proof. All parts are unnumbered except for number "418" on bbl & a "0" inside toe of sideplate. This pistol was assembled from parts imported by August Weiss in the 1920's and is a very rare, possibly one of a kind example in near mint condition. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus. Overall retains about 98% orig strong blue & about 80% orig straw colors. Grips are sharp showing almost no wear & are nicely grained. Orig magazine is near mint. Crisp mechanics, bright shiny bore with a few tiny scattered spots of light frosting in one small area. 4-36148 JR182 & BS (8,000-12,000)"
