Rare Cased Etched Colleye Patent 4-Shot Ring-Trigger Percussion Harmonica Pistol, c.
1850
No. 1338, 3 3/4-inch blued octagonal barrel with etched decorations at breech and
muzzle, off-set foresight, etched frame with ring-trigger, bag-shaped burl-walnut grips
(restorations on left panel), harmonica magazine with etched decorations, powder flask
(Riling No. 122 type), ball mold combining loading rod, sprue-cutter and nipple wrench,
elaborately shaped three-piece oil vessel, wood-handled turn-screw, brass cleaning rod and
pick; the whole contained within an unusual oval casing with pierced-brass decorative
inlays on lid, lined with red velour and retaining fragmentary remains of a small paper
label which reads: "pistola,"
Condition: Minor wear to finish with scattered flaking and staining,
grips varnished and with some restorations as noted, some accessories with minor staining,
case very good though lacking ladle.
