Rare English Patent Flintlock Purse Pistol by Clemetshaw & Co.
.36 caliber, 1 5/8-inch screwbarrel. Boxlock action contained in hollowed out
compartment. Side of lock mechanism marked: Clemetshaw. Paper label in bottom of cavity
reading: Clemetshaw & Co./PATENT/ Mossgate/York. Walnut butt. Pullstring cocking
system. Recess cavities for ball and patch storage. External lever activates trigger. Red
calf leather covering with steel latch, giving the impression of an ordinary man's purse.
A very rare and early curiosa firearm. Size: 3-inches X 5 1/2-inches.
Condition: Very good. Showing age wear and patina. Mechanism works
well.
