Exceptional and Rare Massachusetts Arms Co. Wesson & Leavitt Dragoon Model
Revolver, With Low Serial Number
Serial no. 15, .40 percussion caliber, 6-shot cylinder with etched decoration of shield
and spears and crossed cannon with floral scrollwork, 7-inch barrel, border engraved lock;
standard markings on topstrap, lock and rear of cylinder; blued, with case-hardened lock,
cylinder pin and frame; gold-plated triggerguard; varnished walnut grips.
Condition: Excellent. Generally bright case-hardening, including on
cylinder pin; blue 15% on gripstraps, balance brown; 60% blue on cylinder and barrel,
balance turning brown; 99% gold on triggerguard; some marks at cylinder breech from
hammer; some marks on rear of cylinder from hammer; 95% varnish on grips.
Note: Considered to be the finest example known of this model revolver.
