Colt Paterson Improved No. 2 or Fifth Model Ehlers Belt Model Revolver
Serial no. 243, .34 caliber percussion, 3 3/4-inch octagonal barrel marked with
standard finials "Patent Arms Paterson, N-J - Colt's Pt."; centaur cylinder roll
scene; rounded shoulders to cylinder; blued with case-hardened loading lever and hammer;
varnished walnut grips. Serial number markings include the 243 on back of barrel lug and
on bottom of wedge, as well as on back of cylinder. 243 also appears on top of frame plate
(visible when cylinder removed). Revolver not disassembled further, but additional numbers
will be revealed inside.
Condition: Excellent. 90% blue, light wear; light scratch on left
side of barrel lug; minor storage marks; light wear with marks and light pitting (mainly
on face of cylinder); cylinder with sharp roll scene; 90% case-hardening; grips excellent
with 90% varnish. Excellent bore with deep rifling; loading lever spring broken at point
of where it engages lever lug.
