Scarce Colt Paterson Model 1839 Revolving Shotgun with 32-Inch Barrel and Escutcheon
Inlay on Tang
Serial no. 129, six shot 16 gauge cylinder with standard roll-engraved scene; Paterson
roll marking on right side of barrel lug; brass blade front sight dovetailed at muzzle;
rear sight dovetailed at breech. 129 visible on breech of cylinder and on toe of
buttplate. German silver escutcheon inlaid on upper tang. Varnished walnut stock.
Condition: Very good. Rich and original browning; twist visible on
barrel tube; 65-70% light cylinder scene, balance worn; dents on breech of barrel, face of
cylinder and on recoil shield; old revarnish to stock, cracking at butt. Mechanism needs
repair, so cylinder locks securely on cocking of hammer.
Note: One of the rarest of early Colt firearms, only approximately 225 Paterson Colt
revolving shotguns were made.
