Rare Colt Walker U.S. Military Issue Revolver, Serial Number D Company No. 81
Serial no. D Company No. 81 with all matching numbers, and in standard configuration on
barrel lug, cylinder, frame, triggerguard strap and buttstrap; .44 caliber percussion
cylinder; 9-inch part round, part octagonal barrel marked - ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK
CITY - reading from breech in direction of muzzle; US/1847 on right side of barrel lug;
Texas Rangers and Comanche Indian fight cylinder roll scene; built with blued finish, and
case-hardened hammer, loading lever and frame; cylinder finished in-the-white; plain brass
triggerguard strap; oil-finished walnut grips. 81 visible at front of frame, between two
pins engaging apertures in rear of barrel lug. 81 stamped on front of grip within cutout
for triggerguard strap (visible only when grips removed from revolver). 81 on left side of
triggerguard strap (visible only when grips removed). Sold together with a correspondence
file and certificate for the entrance of this Walker in theTexas Gun Collector's
Association "Parade of Walkers" exhibit held in the Spring of 2003.
Condition: Good to very good. Gray patina, pitting, some of the
latter more pronounced than on other surfaces; cylinder with traces roll scene and D and
81 visible; D and 81 visible on buttstrap; most of marking visible on left side of barrel
lug and more clearly visible on left side of frame; the single safety pin missing from
breech of cylinder, but aperture remains; brass triggerguard strap with mellow patina, mar
through serial number stamping, but still clearly visible; grips with smooth wear, minor
dents, and with chips missing from butt at front of both panels. Aftermarket rear sight
dovetailed at top of barrel breech; spring for securing loading lever likely old
replacement. Very good bore. Barrel has been extended and re-rifled. Cylinder pin has been
replaced and loading lever assembly has been replaced.
