Fine Colt Model 1871-72 Open Top Single Action Revolver, Nickel-Plated and with Ivory
Grips
Serial no. 3470, .44 rimfire caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with standard maker and
New-York U.S. America percussion period marking; two-line two-patent date marking on left
side of frame, naval engagement cylinder roll scene; nickel-plated finish with blued
screws, wedge and trigger, and case-hardened hammer; one piece ivory grips. Sold together
with Colt factory letter stating revolver was shipped to H & D Folsom Arms Company,
New York, New York on August 29, 1873. Included in a shipment of 10 revolvers.
Condition: Very good to fine. 90% nickel, fading and with wear,
nicks, primarily on barrel lug and near wedge on ejector rod housing; blue and fading to
brown and gray; case-hardening 25%; cylinder scene sharp; wedge screw with mars; grips
fine and with mellow patina.
