Serial no. 37446. 16 x 16 gauge by 9.3x72R. 26 3/4-inch barrels with flat matted rib
and automatically raised rifle sight. Case-hardened boxlock action with floral designs and
game scenes: pair of ducks in flight, fox observing a partridge and a hare on the
triggerguard. Extractor. Side clips. Cocking indicators. Rifle barrel selector on tang.
Greener-style side safety and crossbolt. Front adjustable set-trigger. Finely checkered
pistolgrip stock of slightly figured walnut. Horn grip cap and buttplate. Cheekpiece.
Finely checkered splinter fore-end with Deeley-style release. Sling swivels. Cartridge
trap with hinged lid on top of comb near butt.
Condition: Fine, as partially redone. Barrels show 90 - 95% bluing
with some light spotting. Right barrel shows 3 significant dents. Generally bright bores
with frosting. Right bore shows pitting near breech and some further on. Rifle barrel is
generally bright with some isolated light pitting. Action shows a sliver-gray patina.
Action/barrels shows very slight looseness. Top lever screw is missing. Stock pinned at
head. Buttplate shows insect damage. Refinished stock shows sanding marks and uneven
finish. Wood shows handling marks and a few nicks and scratches. Checkering shows some
filling.
