Rare Second Model Le Mat Percussion 10-Shot Revolver of Paris Manufacture, c. 1864-65
Serial no. 1844, .42 caliber, 9-shot cylinder, with standard center barrel of .63
caliber smoothbore, 6 3/4-inch octagonal barrel with marking on top, engraved in olde
English "Syst Le Mat Bte s-g-d-b Paris" within decorative border, N stamped on
left side of hammer, */LM trademark on right side of breech of barrel, B stamped on front
of cylinder between two of the chambers; blued finish. Engraving also included on screws
and grip screw escutcheons. Checkered walnut grips.
Condition: Very good. 50% blue, balance brown patina, with light
pitting, wear; grips with wear, mars, the latter primarily on right side.
Note: B stamping on cylinder believed to signify Parisian manufacture.
