Belgian Folding-Trigger Tip-Up Double-Action Revolver, by H.J. Dessard, in Pipe Casing
Serial no. 1440, approximately .32 centerfire caliber, 6 shot cylinder, 5 3/4-inch
six-sided barrel, marked on right side: NOVEMBRE 1873/ROMA, and on right angle flat: S.M.
A PIETRO MARIOTTI. Left side of barrel breech stamped: H.J. DESSARD/BREVETE/ACIERFONDU and
with number 2419 and crown over U. Engraved cylinder, barrel and frame, with floral,
scroll and border motifs; blued barrel and cylinder, balance gray; checkered varnished
walnut grips. Blind-tooled leather-covered pipe casing, lined in purple satin and velvet;
German silver spring latch.
Condition: Fine. 97% blue on barrel and cylinder; minor surface
pitting on frame; grips fine. Casing fine; minor stains on interior and minor wear on
exterior.
Note: Barrel stamps identify Italian dealer and/or importer who sold cased revolver in
Rome.
