Serial no. 8938. 12 gauge. Shortened 28-inch Twist barrels. Game rib marked: Ward &
Son, Central Gun Works, Birmingham, The York Gun. Case-hardened action with back-action
rebounding locks. Action and locks with foliate scroll details. Checkered straight-grip
stock of contrasting straight grain walnut. Hard rubber buttplate. Checkered pull-off
splinter fore-end. Canvas covered lightweight trunk case with single brass lock. Green
baize interior.
Condition: Good. Barrels show 50-60 bluing turning brown. Right
barrel with dents. Right bore shows frosting with pitting near breech. Left bore shows
pitting with heavy pitting near breech. Action, locks and furniture show brown patina.
Action/barrels show slight looseness. Stock repaired at grip. Metal splice piece behind
tang. Stock shows nicks, scratches and impressions. Checkering shows wear. Fore-end horn
tip crudely replaced with light colored wood. Case in fair condition. Interior shows some
losses and discoloration. Exterior shows staining, discoloration and scuffing. Leather
trim shows losses and scuffing.
