Serial no. 11288. 12 gauge. 29 1/2-inch barrels. Game rib. Case-hardened Beesley Patent
self-opening sidelock action with bar-action locks. Push-forward snap underlever. Action
and locks fully engraved with Purdey's traditional fine scroll and bouquet pattern. Fences
with Fleur-de-lys in relief. Extractor. Cocking indicators. Triggerguard is inlet for
underlever. Automatic safety with SAFE in gold. Finely checkered replacement straight grip
stock of well-figured contrasting walnut. Drop points. Checkered butt. Vacant silver oval.
Finely checkered splinter fore-end with Anson-style release.
Condition: Fine, as partially redone. Barrels show 99% reblued finish
over some older pitting (mostly under fore-end). Bright bores. Right barrel shows a slight
bulge at mid-point. Action and locks show a silver-gray patina. Underside of action shows
some older scratches. Breech face shows fine pitting around striker-holes. Watertable
shows areas of discoloration. Furniture shows a silver-gray patina. Top of fore-end iron
shows light pitting and spotting. Stock shows a few light handling marks. Fore-end shows
refreshed checkering and a few light impressions.
