Exceptional Remington Model 1897 No. 5 Rolling Block Military Rifle
Unserialized. 7mm, 30-inch barrel with standard military sights. Inscribed in script at
breech: W.R.A. & Co. 5/1/11. Two barrel bands and bayonet lug. Blued finish.
Single-shot rolling block action. Case-hardened frame. Steel ramrod. Walnut arm guard and
stocks. Sling mounts.
Condition: Excellent. Retaining approximately 80-85% finish with
scattered wear to relief edges, bottom of triggerguard and buttplate. Excellent wood with
a few minor marks.
Note: This arm is rare due to its unique markings. It may have been used at the
government ammunition trial tests during the early 20th century. Most production of this
model were exported to Central and South America countries.
