Composite U.S. Model 1897 Winchester Slide Action Trench Gun, with Leather Sling and
Bayonet
Serial no. 6867766, 12-gauge, 20-inch cylinder choke barrel, blued finish; U.S. and
Ordnance bomb motif stamped on right side of frame. Ventilated rib. Model 1917 bayonet and
leather scabbard. Bayonet with 17-inch unsharpened blade, ricasso marked REMINGTON[circle]
1917. Reverse with Ordnance bomb, Eagle head and numeral 21.
Condition: Very good. 75% blue, wear; buttstock cleaned and a
possible replacement. Ventilated rib may be a later replacement. Sling: Very Good with
scattered light cracking and verdigris. Bayonet: Very Good with pitting at ricasso and
scattered staining. Scabbard Very Good with scattered light scratches and dark patina.
