"COLT MODEL 1911 MILITARY PISTOL. SN 69728. Cal. 45 ACP. Standard early 1911 (1914) with last patent date "1911" and rampant Colt at left rear end of slide. Right side of slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". It retains its orig thin front sight & has a replacement flat top rear sight. Left front side of frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and has "WGP" (Maj. Walter G. Penfield) inspector mark. Mounted with diamond checkered walnut grips with short hammer spur & grip safety spur. Accompanied by an orig 2-tone magazine. Also accompanied by a rare "1914" dated Rock Island swivel holster. CONDITION: Very fine. Slide retains 95-96% orig blue, slightly thinned on sides, with sharp edge wear. Frame retains about 85% thin orig blue, strong on sides with blue/brown front strap & spring housing. Grips are sound with a few minor chipped diamonds & shows moderate wear. Mechanics are fine, strong bore with some light erosion in the grooves. Holster is dry & stiff with flexing on flap & retains generous amounts of orig brown finish.
