"COLT MODEL 1911 SEMI-AUTO MILITARY PISTOL. SN 195967. Cal. 45 ACP. Fine 1917 produced 1911 with an orig equipment replacement 5" bbl with proofs on each side of lug. Slide has usual markings with "1913" last patent date & rampant Colt at left rear end. Right side of slide has usual U.S. Army markings. Left side of frame has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" at front edge with "GHS" (Gilbert H. Stewart) inspector initials above magazine release. It has long hammer spur with short grip safety spur & is fitted with diamond checkered walnut grips. Accompanied by an orig 2-tone magazine. These wartime produced 1911's were generally all issued & saw hard service throughout WWI & WWII, Korea & remained in service until the 1960's & 70's when they were replaced in military service by the Beretta. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus. Overall retains about 98% strong orig wartime brushed finish blue with only faint sharp edge wear & some slight thinning to front strap & turning plum on mainspring housing. Grips are sound with light to moderate wear & a few scattered chipped diamonds. Magazine is also fine. Crisp mechanics, bright shiny bore. 4-35611 JR265 (3,500-6,000)"
