"KRIEGHOFF MODEL 1936 LUGER PISTOL. SN 4498. Cal. 9 mm. According to Lugers at Random, Kenyon, p. 308, there were 2,457 of these "1936" dated Lugers produced. It has blue finish with 4" tapered rnd bbl, dovetail front sight and fixed rear sight on the toggle. It has a "1936" chamber date with the Krieghoff anchor, name & address on the toggle link. Extractor is marked "GELADEN" and when the thumb safety is in the safe position "GESICHERT" is exposed. Fitted with brown checkered composition grips and accompanied by an aluminum base magazine with blue body numbered "3011o" and bears the waffenampt "63". These pistols were made for the Luftwaffe and undoubtedly were all issued, seeing extensive service throughout the war with the majority being lost in combat. Therefore encountering one in nice condition is a great rarity. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching except magazine as noted, near new. Bbl retains 96-97% strong orig blue with only slight muzzle edge wear and some thinning to the left side of the sight boss. The receiver and toggle & bolt system retain virtually all of their crisp bright factory blue. Frame is equally fine retaining 95-96% strong orig blue with only sharp edge & high point wear, mostly on sideplate and front edges of the raised area. Retains most of its orig straw color with some thinning on the trigger & lock bolt. Grips are extremely fine, grip screws are somewhat battered. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. 4-32221 JR237 (5,500-7,500)"
