"MAUSER PERSIAN ARTILLERY LUGER & RIG. SN 3268. Cal. 9 mm. Scarce Persian artillery with 8" bbl, adjustable 800 meter artillery rear sight, "MAUSER" written in Farsi on front toggle link & the Persian crest over chamber. Right side of receiver is marked in Farsi "PISTOL MODEL 1312". It has Oberndorf crown "U" proof on left side of receiver & all small parts are numbered in Arabic numerals. Accompanied by an orig Persian wood base magazine with Arabic numbers "3682" & fitted with full checkered walnut grips having a "655" Waffenampt stamped inside each grip. Also accompanied by an orig Persian Luger artillery stock with Arabic numerals "3052". Also accompanied by an orig brown leather Luger artillery holster with pouches containing orig cleaning rod & takedown tool. No straps are present. Mauser sold 1,000 of these pistols to the Persian military in 1936. This is the most exotic and impressively factory marked production Luger. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching except grips which are unnumbered & the stock. Overall retains about 95% strong orig factory blue & about 75% orig factory straw colors, thinned on safety lever, lock bolt & trigger. Grips are crisp with only a couple of chipped diamonds and show very light wear with nice wood grain showing through. Magazine is very fine with a series of tiny dents on front edge. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. Stock, holster, takedown tool & cleaning rod are all in very fine orig condition. 4-36134 JR229 & BS (5,500-7,500)"
