"ERFURT 1914 ARTILLERY LUGER & RIG. SN 1286.. Cal. 9 mm. Rare Erfurt artillery Luger with 8" bbl, 800 meter fine tune rear sight & fine tune front sight. It has the "ERFURT" & crown logo on front toggle link & "1914" chamber date. Fitted with orig full checkered wood grips & accompanied by a correct wood base magazine with serial number "1896a" & imperial proofs. Also accompanied by an orig Imperial proofed unnumbered walnut stock with correct brown leather holster & straps containing an unmarked takedown tool with orig cleaning rod. This was the first year the artillery Luger was manufactured and examples in this condition are extremely difficult to find. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection CONDITION: Very fine, all matching including grips, except magazine & stock. Overall retains about 93-95% orig factory blue, thinning on bottom of bbl with strong sharp blue on frame, & about 90-92% orig factory straw colors. Grips are sound showing light to moderate wear with a few chipped diamonds. Magazine has a small crack in base, otherwise is very fine. Stock is very fine with a few light bruises, nicks & scratches. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore with very fine frosting in grooves. Holster has a slightly crackled surface on body with light wear & thinning of finish on flap. Pull-up is a cloth replacement. Straps are fine with one small break & lightly crackled surface, dry & in need of treatment.
