"MAUSER PERSIAN CONTRACT FACTORY CUTAWAY LUGER PISTOL. SN 28. Cal. 9 mm. Extraordinarily rare cutaway Luger from the Persian Contract with 4" bbl, Arabic serial number & Farsi safety & loaded extractor markings with Persian crown proof on right side receiver. This pistol has full Mauser factory cuts on metal and grips that are identical to the pattern shown on p. 379 of LUGERS AT RANDOM, Kenyon. The quality and pattern of cuts along with the intact orig finish indicates that this is an orig factory cutaway with orig matching magazine. Orig factory cutaways, in beautiful condition like this, are extremely rare & highly desirable. This is a non-gun as chamber & bbl were also cut away rendering it completely inoperable & ineffective as a legitimate firearm. PROVENANCE: Doug Smith Collection. CONDITION: Extraordinarily fine, as new, with all visible numbers matching. Overall retains about 99%+ crisp orig factory blue & about 99% crisp orig factory straw colors. Grips are crisp with a few scattered chipped diamonds showing little or no wear with no hand grease in wood. Magazine is near mint.
