"US SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MARK I BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. SN 1045079. Cal. 30-06. Usual configuration with 24" tapered rnd bbl dated "11-18" with a 2,800 yard rear sight. Chamber has usual markings plus "MARK I" above serial number. Left side of receiver has a milled slot which is the ejection port for the rare Pedersen device, an example of which is being sold elsewhere in this auction. The orig Pedersen sear has been replaced with conventional 03 equipment. Mounted in a replacement Rock Island stock with straight grip without grasping grooves. Left side of wrist has an "FJA" cartouche & an ordnance wheel with a rectangular "RIA / EB" cartouche on left side of buttstock. Bottom of wrist has two "P" proofs plus other smaller proofs. It has an orig split front band with bayonet lug & stacking swivel and grooved middle band with sling loop. It also has an orig milled foreplate & trigger guard and smooth buttplate with trap. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl & receiver retain a smooth black finish with greenish parkerizing on trigger guard & floorplate. Wood is sound with a small gouge in right side of butt & usual handling & use marks elsewhere with a dark oil finish. Mechanics are fine, very bright shiny bore. 4-35883 JR421 (1,500-2,500)"
