"DD ITALIAN BRIXIA MODEL 35 MORTAR DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE. SN 8890. Cal. 45mm. WWII single shot breech loading mortar. All blued finish. 10" bbl sleeve with an outer sleeve that is octagonal in shape. Mortar is discharged via 6.5mm blank loaded in metal magazine. Magazine-well is on top rear of mortar with hinged metal cover. Aiming mechanism is part of an intricate folding tripod with tubular metal legs. Elevation mechanism is built into left side of tripod with angle indicator. Tripod folds into backpack configuration with two shoulder straps attached to front. PROVENANCE: Stern Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Mortar looks nice and operates smoothly when functioned by hand. Tripod is painted OD green. Mortar is finished in an original bluing, majority of which is still intact.
