Rare Colt Model 1851 London-Proofed Lower Canada Navy Martial Revolver
Serial no. 33973, .36 caliber percussion, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel marked - ADDRESS.
COL: COLT. LONDON. - , COLT'S/PATENT stamped on left side of frame, naval engagement
cylinder roll scene; blue with case-hardened loading lever, hammer and frame; blued steel
gripstraps and large triggerguard; varnished walnut grips with right panel stamped
LC/A/14. British proof stampings on left side of barrel lug and on cylinder at breech.
Condition: Very good to fine. Traces blue and case-hardening, with
balance brown and gray patina; light pitting and wear, more pronounced on buttstrap;
cylinder with 85% roll scene, light tracking marks at cylinder stop slots, safety pins
flattened in some instances; grips with old revarnish, dulled patina and light wear, more
pronounced nicks and mars.
