12 Gauge H. Holland Snap Underlever Hammer Double Barrel Shotgun.
Serial no. 1769. 12 gauge. 30-inch steel barrels. Game rib marked: H. Holland, 98 New
Bond St., London. Casehardened border engraved snap underlever action with border engraved
non-rebounding back action locks. Dished watertable. Faceted high hammers. Finely
checkered straight grip stock of figured walnut. Silver oval with initials. Steel
buttplate. Finely checkered splinter wedge fastened fore-end.
Condition: Very Good, as partially redone. Barrels show 70-80%
reblued finish with heavy pitting under fore-end and fine pitting elsewhere. Rib and
barrels show a scrape. Left barrel shows a dent and two bulges. Right bore shows light
pitting ahead of chamber, balance of bore is bright with some marks. Left bore is bright
with some marks. Action shows a silver-gray patina with very fine spotting. Refreshed wood
shows numerous handling marks. Buttplate shows silver-gray patina. Fore-end shows handling
marks and a small damaged area on bottom. Recut checkering shows some overlap.
