12 Gauge Griefelt Hammer Double Barrel Shotgun.
Serial no. 28565. 12 gauge. 28 1/4-inch barrels marked: Special-Gewehr-Lauf-Stahl /
Fried. Krupp A.G. Essen. Matted flat extended rib with maker's name. Case-hardened action
with back-action locks engraved with fine foliate scroll. Percussion fences. Sideclips.
Finely checkered straight-grip stock of figured walnut. Checkered horn butt. Finely
checkered splinter fore-end. Sling swivels.
Condition: Condition: Very Good, as partially redone. Barrels show
96-98% reblued finish with light pitting under fore-end edges. Bright bores with heavy
pitting at forcing cones. Left barrel shows slight dents near muzzle. Action and furniture
shows a brown patina. Action/barrels show looseness. Refinished stock shows a few light
handling markes. Recut checkering.
Note: Barrels are out of proof due to considerably enlarged bores and lengthened
chambers. Chokes are excessive due to the reboring of the barrels and need adjustment. Gun
is deemed unsafe to fire untill the pitting at the forcing cones have been removed and it
has been reproved.
