"HALF-STOCK RIFLE. SN NSN. This very unusual high-quality one-of-a-kind Philadelphia half-stock rifle has a 28" full oct 50 Cal bbl marked "T.D.& CO PHILADa". This rifle has a finely checkered wrist, dbl set triggers, and the iron furniture and lock are all handsomely engraved. The breech end of the rifle is very unusual in that there are percussion nipples on both the left- and right-hand sides. It would appear this breech system was designed to accept either a left-handed or right-handed percussion lock. The lock is fitted with a unique rotating safety device. T.D. & Co. were dealers in fine sporting rifles in Philadelphia. PROVENANCE: R. Gabel Collection.
