"DWM 1902 LUGER CARBINE. SN 23896. Cal. 30 Luger. Fine carbine with 11-3/4" tapered rnd bbl, dovetail ramp front sight and a 300 meter ramp rear sight. It has "DWM" marked toggle link and full checkered walnut grips with a 6-pointed star stamped inside. Mounted with nicely figured, checkered European walnut with tiny schnable tipped forearm and straight stock with checkered butt. Stock is altogether unnumbered and has the unusual checkered butt leading one to speculate that it may have been shortened and is an old replacement. Accompanied by one orig unmarked wood base magazine. This carbine must have had a scope installed at one time as is has what appear to be scope mounts on each side of the front of the frame which consists of an oval stud about 1/8" x 3/16" with a small dimple on each side, probably for lock screws. An estimated 2,500 of these fine pistol-carbines were made early in the 20th century and are rarely encountered today. Reference Lugers at Random, Kenyon. CONDITION: Bbl & receiver retain 96-98% strong orig blue with a few scattered pin pricks of light rust. Toggle link & bolt retain most of their orig blue, also with a few scattered minor pin pricks of rust. Frame retains 95-96% strong orig blue with only a little sharp edge wear and some thinning to the sideplate. Grips are sound with a few minor bruises and chipped diamonds. Stock and forearm are sound with minor handling & storage marks and retain most of their orig factory finish. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bore with some fine frosting. Magazine is fine. 4-32001 JR232 (8,000-12,000)"
