Exceptional Carved and Silver-Mounted Staghorn Flask
The intaglio-carved staghorn flask featuring a stag, pursued by hounds and mounted
hunters in a typical hunting scene. Details include a finely carved and forest environment
in contrasting brown tones with intricately detailed trees, ferns and other flora.
Dramatic images of hounds on the run, with hare and stag in flight. The bottom with silver
ring mounts, the centers with carved vignettes of wild boar and dog heads. Top of flask
with raised floral scroll border with animal head vignettes. Silver top and charger with
cabbage leaf ferrule and spring-loaded valve. Silver collar with ring mounts. Silversmith
hallmark FL and other marks. An exceptional example of the carved stag flask.
Condition: Excellent with light wear and age patina.
