Rare and Ornate German Tri-Angular Form Gilt Copper Priming Flask, Augsburg, c.1600
The gilt copper flask, having pierced gilt metal front panel over original fabric
covering with images of mounted warriors in combat; fallen warrior; armor panoply and
grotesque mask. Gilt roped borders. Side ring mounts and base with decorative pierced
floral escutcheons. Curved belt hook. Engraved gilt copper spout with faceted square base
engraved with scrolls. No stopper present. Size: 10 1/2-inch high X 8-iinches wide X 2
1/2-inches deep. An early and desirable shooting accessory.
Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 85-90% original gilt
finish with scattered wear and patina. Underlying base fabric heavily darkened with age
but fairly intact. Wear to belt hook. No stopper.
