Allen & Thurber Worcester Pepperbox with 1837 Patent Date
Serial no. 126, .34 caliber percussion, 5 1/4-inch barrel cluster, 6-shot, one barrel
rib marked PATENTED 1837 CAST-STEEL, another marked with maker and WORCESTER address; bar
hammer marked on left side ALLEN'S PATENT; scroll and border engraved frame and backstrap,
nipple shield appears to have been roll engraved; blued with browned barrel cluster;
varnished walnut grips.
Condition: Excellent with 95% finish on barrel cluster; 35% blue
shield and triggerguard; 95% case-hardening on bar hammer. 99% varnish remains on grips.
