Fine Factory Engraved Colt Single Action Frontier Six-Shooter Revolver, with Ivory
Grips
Serial no. 309679, .44-40 caliber, 7 1/2-inch barrel with standard maker and Hartford
one line address marking; COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER on left side of barrel; two-line
three-patent date marking on left side of frame with rampant colt logo in circle to right;
blued with case-hardened frame and hammer; Colt relief medallion inlaid two piece ivory
grips. Scroll and border engraved on barrel and cylinder. Sold together with Colt factory
letter stating the revolver left the factory with the following configuration: .44-40
caliber; 7 1/2-inch barrel; Ivory grips; Shipped to Schoverling, Daly & Gales, New
York, New York, September 29, 1909, Guns in shipment 1. Barrel and cylinder engraved.
There is a notation of blue and an additional "SP Finish".
Condition: Fine. Barrel and cylinder appear refinished; 95% blue; 60%
case-hardening on frame, fading; patina and pitting on hammer, with 10% case-hardening;
light tracking lines on cylinder; mellow patina to grips, fine and with light cracks,
primarily on left panel. Ivory grips likely later addition.
