16 Gauge by Unmarked 9.3 mm German Boxlock Drilling
Serial no. 1452. 16 x 16 gauge by (possibly) 9.3x70R. 26 3/4-inch barrels with matted
flat rib with manual flip-up rear sight. Blued sculpted action with border engraving and
oak leaves in relief on fences. Square cross bolt. Extractor. Adjustable front
set-trigger. Rifle barrel selector on tang. Greener-style side safety. Reverse side clips.
Finely checkered pistolgrip stock of slightly figured walnut. Horn buttplate. Steel
gripcap. Cheekpiece. Cartridge trap with hinged lid in butt. Finely checkered splinter
fore-end with Deeley-style release.
Condition: Fine, as partially redone. Barrels show 90 - 95% reblued
finish over areas of older fine pitting. Barrel surface shows unevenness. Right barrel
shows bright bore with some frosting. Left bore show riveling and light pitting. Rifle
barrels shows well-defined rifling with light pitting. Action shows 90 - 95% bluing.
Replaced top pin on tang. A few screws show slight marring. Stock shows 1/4-inch crack at
rear of top tang and refreshed finish with some handling marks. Side safety mounting plate
screw missing. Buttplate shows insect losses. Fore-end checkering shows heavy wear in
places and filling in others.
