Serial no. 2267. 16/16 gauge x 8x57JR. 26 1/2-inch Krupp Fluss-stahl barrels. Matted
flat rib with automatic flip-up sight. Casehardened scalloped reinforced boxlock action
engraved with floral designs and woodland setting game scenes: Roe deer and stag. Cocking
indicators. Front set-trigger. Rifle barrel selector on tang. Greener-style side safety.
Greener-style crossbolt. Side clips. Horn triggerguard. Finely checkered pistolgrip stock
of slightly figured walnut. Cheekpiece. Horn gripcap. Later metal buttplate. Finely
checkered splinter fore-end with Deeley-style release.
Condition: Fine, as partially redone. Barrels show 85 - 90% bluing
thinning in places. Barrels/action show slight looseness. Bright bores, right bore with
some light pitting near breech. Left barrel shows a ring bulge at muzzle. Rifle barrel
shows bright well-defined rifling. Triggerguard show losses on right edge. Action shows
dark silver-gray patina with traces of case color in protected areas. Re-coated wood show
numerous nicks and scratches. Checkering shows some filling.
