Flintlock Kentucky Rifle with Ketland Lock, circa 1820
.48 caliber, 42 1/8-inch octagonal barrel, lightly engraved lock with Ketland & Co.
marking; open sights of traditional style; brass mountings including pierced patchbox with
bird finial; engraved silver half moon inlay on cheekpiece and silver diamond on bottom of
butt; scarce brass plate on bottom of fore-end; single trigger; hickory ramrod. HR script
monogram engraved on shield shaped silver thumbpiece escutcheon.
Condition: Very good. Gray patina to steel; pitting. Stock worn;
light cracks, portion of diamond silver inlay missing; wedgeplate missing at front left
side of fore-end; chipping from breech adjacent to lock. Possible reconversion.
