12 Gauge Composed Henry Atkin Snap Under-lever Sidelock Ejector Double Barrel Shotgun
Serial no. 474. 12 gauge. 30-inch barrels marked: E. J. Churchill Gun and Rifle Maker /
8 Agar St. London, numbered 1267. Matted concave rib with extension. Case-hardened, barrel
cocking, push-forward snap under-lever action with bar-action locks. Action and locks
engraved with 70% fine scroll engraving. Ejectors. Tang- mounted pivoting non-automatic
safety. Checkered straight stock of slightly figured walnut. Drop points. Gold oval marked
with monogram. Checkered buttplate. Checkered splinter fore-end with Anson-style release.
Fore-end numbered 473.
Condition: Fine, as redone and showing considerable use. Barrels show
98% re-blued finish. Bright bores. Right barrel shows a repair and a deep pit 7 - 8 inches
from muzzle, at this point the wall thickness is 0.012 inches, as a result THE GUN IS
DEEMED UNSAFE TO FIRE. Action shows silver patina with very fine pitting and marks on
underside. Re-finished wood shows handling marks. Stock shows gaps at horns on left side.
Re-cut checkering. Oval shows losses. Fore-end shows a one inch crack at rear.
