Rare Agent Marked American Halfstock Single Shot Percussion Plains Rifle by Slotter
and Company, Philadelphia, Made for A. J. Plate, San Francisco
Serial no. 81, .46 caliber, 31-inch heavy octagonal barrel with dovertailed front sight
and elevation rear sight numbered 81. Steel under-rib. Top flat marked: Slotter & Co.
Phila/Made for/A.J. Plate/San Francisco. Inlaid German silver bands at breech.
Case-hardened hammer and lock marked: Slotter & Co. Phila. Double set triggers.
Checkered walnut stock with German silver mountings and wedge escutcheons. Silver- mounted
wooden ramrod.
Condition: Fine for this type of rifle. Barrel, rib and lock showing
dark brown age patina. Triggerguard tang cracked. Wood very good with minor wear and
marks.
