American Halfstock Percussion Plains Rifle by J. Biringer, Leavenworth, Kansas
.38 caliber, 36 7/8-inch octagonal barrel with dovertailed German silver blade-type
front sight and dovetailed semi-buckhorn open rear sight. Top flat marked: J. Biringer,
Leavenworth, Ks. Engraved lock mechanism with image of hunter. Barrel-type nipple bolster.
Double set- triggers. Plain walnut stock with brass furniture, pewter fore-end cap and
German silver wrist escutcheons. Wooden ramrod.
Condition: Very good. Barrel and lock showing dark age patina with
scattered pitting at breech and on lockplate. Wood excellent with light wear overall.
