Rare American Halfstock Percussion Plains Rifle by J. P. Gemmer
.40 caliber, 40-inch octagonal barrel with dovetailed blade-type front sight and large
buckhorn rear sight. Barrel marked: J.P. Gemmer, St. Louis. Steel under-rib. Engraved
percussion lock marked: G. Goulcher. Double set triggers. Light walnut stock with steel
mountings. Pewter fore-end cap and German silver wedge escutcheons. Wooden ramrod.
Condition: Very good. Barrel, lock and all mountings showing dark age
patina. Wood very good with scattered light wear and minor blemishes. A fine example of
the legendary American plains rifle.
